"The Mighty Baldwin" (Baldwin Church Organ model C-720T)
The old Baldwin Church Organ model C-720T at St. David’s from c. 1976 to June 24, 2019

From the late 1970’s until June 24, 2019, the music at St. David’s had been accompanied by a Baldwin Church Organ (model C-720T). For over four decades, this instrument had reliably brought much joy to hearts of the congregation.

Through an extremely generous gift from our sister parish, Holy Trinity Riverbend, we received a beautiful organ to replace the ageing “Mighty Baldwin” (as the old organ was affectionately known). This gift of an Allen Protégé Digital Organ (model AP-9) brings with it a much more capable instrument that realistically mirrors the sounds of a cathedral pipe organ to our parish.

The Organ’s Origins at Holy Trinity Riverbend…

Prior to arriving at St. David’s, this particular instrument spent several years serving the parish of Holy Trinity Riverbend. This church opened during the 1990’s as a Chinese-Anglican parish, with Rev. Michael Sung serving as its Rector, and his wife Agnes Sung serving as its organist. This organ was initially donated to them from Alex Woo, who was the father of one of Agnes’ students. After several years of service at Holy Trinity Riverbed, it was determined that they no longer required the instrument, which resulted in it eventually being gifted to St. David’s.

St. David’s is very blessed to receive such a generous gift. This organ will bring years of enjoyment to the congregation.
